Yonezawa Snow!

People from Yonezawa have told us basically, "You ain't seen nuthin' yet", but it is still impressive to us. We've seen about a foot of snow fall in 24 hours a couple of times. We have heard that in the past that three feet in 24 hours was not too uncommon. Audrey and I figure that we must have brought some of that warm Georgia air with us from the US! Still, Audrey and I have enjoyed skiing at a couple of the numerous resorts around the Yonezawa area.

This wintry scene is looking down our street to the center of town. On the right is a little store owned by our landlord.

That's our apartment building on the right. PLEASE SEND MORE MAIL HERE! :)

Looking into the backyard from the balcony of our apartment.

Tom playing in the snow storm outside Milliken Japan! (I can hear Mom saying now, "Where is that boy's jacket??")

This was taken at the Usuegi Shrine. The moat you see is an ancient moat which used to surround a castle. A shrine is now where the castle used to be.

Looking down a street in Yonezawa. There are many firs trees in and around Yonezawa because of the climate.
