Fall
Colors
- About
this time of year the air gets cool and we start thinking of when the
snow will arrive. With the mountains all around us in Yonezawa
it is hard not to notice the fall colors. Audrey and I have taken
several drives up in the mountains to see the leaves. But we don't
always have to drive because some of the prettiest trees are right in
town near where we live.
- This
was taken in a small village on the way to Tengendai. It is located
in the mountains south of Yonezawa.
- This
is a maple tree right outside of Milliken Japan. The maples in
Japan have a great variety of color, from red, burgundy, orange, to
yellow.
- The
Uesugi shrine, a couple blocks away from where we live, was built on
top of an old castle site. This is a corner of the moat which
makes a great reflecting pool.
- This
is another view of the Uesugi moat.
- Gingko
trees pictured here are my favorite kind of tree. They have fan
shaped leaves which are very soft. They turn brilliant yellow
at this time of year.
- This
waterfall is on the Bandai-Asahi Skyline toll road between Yonezawa
and Bandai. It won't be too much longer before this waterfall
is covered with snow!
