Musee du Louvre

Paris has over 30 museums and The Louvre is the granddaddy of them all.  Audrey and I think that you could spend three or four days easily here looking at all the art collections.  The Louvre has scores of paintings (30,000) of them, sculpture, historic artifacts, and Egyptian mummies of all sizes.  You really have to pick and choose what you want to see.  The Louvre was a former fortress and began its career as a public museum in 1793.  Below and on the next page are some of Audrey and I's favorite works of art.

This is the courtyard inside the horseshoe shaped complex.  You see the glass Pyramid and some of the fountains.  The pyramid is actually the entrance to the Louvre.  From there you go down an escalator into a huge hall from which the gallery entrances radiate.

Audrey looking pretty in Parisian pink!

One of the huge bronze statues in a hall that was full of them.

I wonder what song this guy was singing?
This was Audrey's favorite.

Winged Victory of Samothrace

One of the many beautiful paintings.
