Dover castle keep.  The Dover Castle and grounds were not only used in medieval times by the English.  Ancient Romans built a settlement and lighthouse on the grounds.  The British in WWII built underground secret tunnels, barracks, a command post, and even a hospital in their fight against the Germans.  You can still see the Roman lighthouse today and take a really interesting tour of the underground tunnels and base.
