Equipment:  First light for a new Philips Toucam Pro 840K I bought that was attached at prime focus of the Meade LX-90 8" SCT at f/20 with a Televue 2.0X Barlow.

Capture & Processing: Video captured using K3 CCD Tools. Around 1,100 of the best frames stacked and processed using Registax.

Seeing: Excellent (warm, dry night with exceptionally steady air)

By far this is the best image of Saturn I have taken so far!  Having a steady atmosphere really makes a huge difference.  Captured in 640x480 mode at 6:11AM EDT.  Best 1,100 frames combined.

Same image data as above but enlarged 50%  and unsharp masked in Photoshop.

Equipment:  The Vesta Pro 675K was attached at prime focus of the Meade LX-90 8" SCT with a Televue 2.0X Barlow.

Capture & Processing: Video captured using K3 CCD Tools. Several hundred of the best frames stacked and processed using Registax.  The final images tweaked with Adobe Photoshop.

Seeing: Good

Cloud bands visible on the disk. Titan visible at lower right. Captured in 640x480 mode at 3:44AM JST.  Best several hundred frames combined.

A little less grainy image. Cloud bands visible on the disk. Titan visible at lower right. Captured in 640x480 mode at 3:43AM JST. Best several hundred frames combined.

The same image as above with the contrast increased a bit to show detail.

Captured in 320x240 mode at 3:47AM JST.  Best several hundred frames combined.

The same image as above, taken at 3:47AM, enlarged, rotated and with the contrast increased close to maximum to show four moons captured in the stacked image. Compare to the Starry Night simulation below for the same time.

Starry Night simulation for the stacked photo above showing moon positions.

These photos on represent my first attempt at taking photos of Saturn with my Nikon Coolpix 990 held/mounted afocally to the LX-90 telescope eyepiece.

Taken November 8th, 2001. Several BMP files stacked with Astrostack and modified with Adobe.

These two shots represent the same set of photos taken on November 8th, 2001. This time, the *.jpg files (about 15 of the best quality) were stacked/processed with Registax v. 1.1 then rotated and cleaned up with Adobe.  The two files show varying degree of processing/reduction. Added September 7th, 2003.
