Tsurugajo Castle was founded 600 years ago by Ashina Naomori, a feudal lord who lived in the days when the country was ruled by the Ashikaga shoguns (1338-1573). The castle was destroyed in 1874 but was rebuilt in 1965. It now serves as a local historical museum. It is surrounded by many beautiful trees including cherry trees.
